Political Career
Prince Ukachukwu Nwachukwu is a founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He served as a member of the House of Representatives, representing the Bwari Abuja Municipal Federal Constituency from 1999 to 2003.
Following his departure from the Green Chamber, he endeavored to maintain a presence in the political landscape of the state.
After an unsuccessful bid for the PDP governorship ticket, he switched to the Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA) in 2006. Despite emerging as the party’s candidate, he faced defeat by Peter Obi of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
In a subsequent attempt under the platform of the Hope Democratic Party (HDP), he contested but was once again defeated by Obi, who secured a second term.
He reentered the PDP in 2013 but faced defeat in the party’s ticket selection, which was clinched by Osekoka Obaze. Obaze eventually lost the general election to Willie Obiano of APGA.
However, his victory was short-lived when a disgruntled aspirant, Dr. Anselm Enyimba, filed a lawsuit at the Federal High Court in Abuja, alleging irregularities and fraud during the primary election.
As a result, the court nullified Nwachukwu’s candidacy and directed the Independent National Electoral Commission to recognize Enyimba as the party’s candidate.
Personal Life/Marriage
Nicholas Nwachukwu faced a tragic loss in 2020 when his wife, Late Mrs. Nnenna Ukachukwu, passed away in an accident. The unfortunate incident occurred on Thursday, November 19, 2020, on the Ore-Benin expressway, where the lives of Nnenna Ukachukwu, Amaka, the wife of former Senate Leader Ndoma-Egba, and a police officer named Chinyere Azike were lost.
Nicolas and Nnenna were blessed with five children during their marriage.
